Another era begins as one ends!

Hello! and welcome to our first update of our DisTIL blog this year!
My name is Ruth and I have been given charge of the DisTIL blog, taking over from Chris. I hope to keep you informed about the life and adventure of the DisTIL team this year (though for some this maybe their second year).
So we have come to the end of another DisTIL year, saying Goodbye and Good luck to those that are moving on from A+ (though we all hope to see you all soon or at some point!)
But it is also the start of another DisTIL year, and so A+ is welcoming the team for this year including a few (that just can't seem to get enough) who are sticking around for another year!
The new team includes our first years James, Robert, Sarah, Rachel and Ruth! For the first time in several years the girls have beaten the boys in number (come on the girls)! Staying on for a second year are Kyle, Simon and Mike.
A little introduction to our first years I think is in order:
James -
Where are you from?
North East London
How did you find out about the DisTIL program?
My dad (Brian Foxton) and John Cox met at All Souls Church in London and from there he helped out with the first ever Total Adventure and when I was born 2 years later I started to go to Total Adventures as a baby with my mum and brother. From there I was brought up going to the Total Adventure camps and 2 years ago I heard about the gap year and from then I wanted to do it. I just had to wait till I was old enough!
What is your aim for this year?
My aims are: first to gain skills in the activities needed in the bookings and then from there I wish to gain more knowledge in my faith and get closer to God.
Robert -
Where are you from?
Abingdon, Oxfordshire
How did you find out about the DisTIL program?
I found out about it from one of my mum's friends who's son had done the Gap Year a couple of years before and had enjoyed it.
What is your aim for this year?
My aims are to learn new skills in archery, climbing and off-road biking. I also want to make new friends throughout the year.
Sarah -
Where are you from?
Swansea
How did you find out about the DisTIL program?
Through a group of people I met at Soul Survivor a few years ago.
What is your aim for this year?
My aim is to gain skills, confidence and understanding of who I am both as a person and in God. I am also looking forward to being trained in outdoor activities as my dream in life is to work with people using the means of different fun activities so they too can gain a sense of achievement and self belief.
Rachel -
Where are you from?
Guildford, Surrey
How did you find out about the DisTIL program?
By accident! I stumbled across it whilst researching short-term foreign mission, and after praying about it decided that this was where God wanted me.
What is your aim for this year?
This year is a fantastic opportunity for me to learn new skills in the activities, but also gain a lot of experience of working with lots of different people in different situations. It doesn't hurt that we get to do all of that out in God's beautiful creation!
Ruth -
Where are you from?
Southend-On-Sea, Essex
How did you find out about the DisTIL program?
I heard about the DisTIL program on a Christian holiday called Summersalt last summer. I got talking to some of the guys that were on the gap year then and decided to find out more.
What is your aim for this year?
My aim for the year is to gain qualifications in different outdoor actives, to meet lots of new people and gain experience from this, to be uncomfortable instead of comfortable in my actions and strengthen my faith in God.
Over the last week me, James, Robert, Sarah and Rachel have been getting to grips with the roles and jobs of the coming year, along with starting our training! And of course getting to know the other members of the team.
Please pray for us as we start a new year settling into staff house and that we build and become a strong team.
