As I was manning the fort back at the office. The rest of the DisTIL team, staff and many volunteers entertained 74 young people from Witney and surrounds. I asked Simon what they got up to...
We dabbled in a few activities at Total adventure. I headed up the canoeing at Grafton lock where we had to save Duncan (my fussy chicken) from drowning. Biking was headed up by Jonny, who ran a very tricky course just outside the campsite. Murray and Ben dealt with the fun and craziness that was sports playing rounders, badminton, basketball, football and camp favourite dodgeball. James lead some thrilling climbing sessions on the in house wall which many people valiantly scaled. Rachel headed up the Bushcraft and some of the archery along with James Foxton. Meanwhile Lizzy headed up the arts and crafts as well as the fencing during the week.
After all those crazy activities we enjoyed the road show which included thought provoking talks from John Luke and individual testimony's from some of the leaders. Alongside this we found out how good Rachel was at challenges by playing Too Legit de Quidt. There were some first time camping nerves which were quickly overcome from the fun that was had trying to get ready for bed in a very small space whilst looking forward to the next day.
I am already planning the activities for the roadshows and D-day for next year so make sure you sign up early to guarantee your place.....Good times!
