Happy New Year

January is a time to look a back and assess how your year went and what you'd like to do to improve for next year. Often in school and in business you are set targets to hit and deadlines to meet. I can honestly say that 2013 was a year of challenges and a significant amount of fun. We achieved a number of awards and qualifications but also started some new training towards qualifications we hope to gain this year.

I spoke to the DisTIL team and asked them what they wanted to achieve in 2014. Most of us had difficulty coming up with the answers as always it is difficult to either pin down what we want but also what is achievable in a year that will be very busy. This is what we came up with:

Ben wants to paddle some white water and work towards his 3* Kayak.

JP wants to climb 3 Scottish Peaks, paddle a couple of grade 3/4 rivers and have lots of fun.

Jenni would like to roll her kayak and complete the 3 in 3 challenge (details to be revealed later).

Josh would like to roll his kayak and complete the Bob Graham round in the Lake District.

Luke would like to learn how to ski and to improve his climbing to successfully complete a V4 bouldering challenge.

Sid would like to be able to roll her kayak and gain enough mountain days to apply for her Mountain Leader assessment.

Simon would like to run a half marathon, gain his Level 2 coach on the water and to roll his kayak.

What does 2014 have in store for you? Could you join us on an Event? Would you like to support us financially? How about running a marathon?

We would very much appreciate your prayers as we set out on our challenges. As it says in Matthew 19:26

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
