Ben's Blog

Hey, my name is Ben and I have just graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science and hope to go into teaching in the future.

I first heard about Adventure Plus at the ripe old age of 4 years, going to Total Adventure as a junior camper and then later as a camper. Having grown up in and around the A+ family I always loved the idea of one day coming back and volunteering as a leader. After three wonderful and fun-filled years of volunteering with A+, and having recently completed my studies, I decided that DisTIL was an opportunity I simply could not pass up.

I’ve always enjoyed playing different sports, being outside and finding exciting activities to get involved with. I’m really excited to start my DisTIL year so I can get into the great outdoors and experience lots of fun adventures and learn lots of new skills along the way. I’m particularly keen to improve and learn new skills in climbing and kayaking.

Having volunteered on many camps and residentials, I also know the joy and the fun that can be had when getting to know all the young people, watching them grow in confidence, learn new things and really just get out there and have fun. That is what I’m most looking forward to about this year with Adventure Plus.

In a really exciting time for Adventure Plus, I hope that this year is also a time when I can learn more about myself, meet lots of new people and have a most excellent adventure.
